1. Adding students’ names: The pro to this is that students feel an immediate sense of belonging when they see their names. The con is that it puts a little more pressure on the teacher if you are on a campus that doesn’t give out class lists until the last minute or likes to play musical students right up until the first bell rings.
2. Extending your theme: If you have a classroom theme then you might want to think about how to incorporate that on your door. The pro to this is that it can be left up longer than a door with a cute welcome back phrase.
3. Including seasonal items: Depending on what part of the country you live and when you return, there might already be a chill in the air. If you are a creative person that likes to change out things frequently, incorporating apples or colorful leaves might be a great way to welcome fall along with your students. However, if you don’t think you’ll get around to changing your door until second semester, this might not be the best choice for you. Here are ideas to get you started planning!
